Parish (b.1923) served in the Army from 1943 to 1945, primarily in the Headquarters Battery of the 217th Field Artillery Battalion. After his honorable discharge, he worked for the Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company for twenty-seven years and owned his own engraving business, Appleton Trophy and Engraving.
